ECLIPSE
EMBEDDED FOR ECOPY SHARESCAN OP SLASHES COST OF DOCUMENT ACCOUNTING BY HALF
Provides full-function, single-terminal document imaging, tracking, and distribution
solution for eCopy Ready Digital Copiers
PHOENIX, ILTA ‘05 Conference, August 22, 2005 — Control Systems Copitrak,
a leading provider of comprehensive expense management products, announced today
Eclipse Embedded for eCopy ShareScan OP, a document accounting system that resides
on eCopy ‘s document imaging and distribution system. The combined solution
reduces the cost of document accounting by 50 percent because it illuminates the
need for a dedicated document accounting terminal to track copier costs, including
the costs of copies, faxes, scans, and prints.
"Having a single point of interface for document imaging, accounting, and
distribution solutions streamlines the user experience and reduces the overall
cost of document management," said Keith Kmetz, program director, Hardcopy
Peripherals Solutions and Services at IDC. "Control Systems Copitrak's software-centric
implementation for document accounting eliminates the need for redundant hardware,
vastly improving the user experience while reducing both the initial price as
well as cost of ownership over the life of the system.”
According to Graham Allen, president of Control Systems, Inc., “The number
of organizations standardizing on eCopy for hardcopy scanning and distribution
is escalating rapidly. As a result, the number of organizations interested in
tracking and recovery of scanning costs also is increasing dramatically. Our Eclipse
Embedded for eCopy ShareScan OP software provides organizations with the option
of document accounting that resides on ScanStation OP, eliminating the need for
additional hardware and network drops. Customers now have the option to select
the combined solution of Eclipse Embedded and eCopy ScanStation OP or they can
use the Eclipse cost recovery terminal for a dedicated document accounting solution.”
Eclipse is the new generation of cost recovery software from Control Systems Copitrak,
which builds on the company’s history of offering state-of-the art technology
to capture photocopy, fax, scan, and miscellaneous disbursement data. Built from
the ground up as a tablet style terminal software solution, Eclipse offers unprecedented
ease-of-use. It uses true client/server architecture over TCP/IP to communicate
back to a central Copitrak server. The software solution resides on eCopy ScanStation
OP and is integrated with eCopy ShareScan OP software to provide a single hardware
interface.
"By embedding Eclipse within eCopy ScanStation OP, Control Systems Copitrak
was able to quickly and easily provide a full-function scan tracking solution
that immediately works with any eCopy Ready digital copier," said Noel O'Dwyer,
eCopy director of software alliances. "As a result, Eclipse Embedded provides
a multiplatform offering for tracking all scanning activity as part of a complete
and automatic cost recovery system.”
In addition to Eclipse Embedded, Control Systems Copitrak customers have the option
of using the Eclipse cost recovery terminal integrated with eCopy ShareScan OP
software for embedded architecture digital copiers. With this configuration, Eclipse
operates on the Copitrak terminal while ShareScan OP operates on the embedded
architecture of the networked copier.
eCopy ShareScan OP document imaging and distribution software transforms any eCopy
Ready networked copier or scanner into an information hub that can be used to
integrate hardcopy documents directly into the workflow of critical business processes,
such as reporting, administration, document management, financials, human resources,
and customer management. The user simply inserts a paper document into the automatic
feeder at the copier, enters the appropriate information, and the system scans
and distributes it using the selected enterprise application. ShareScan OP works
with copiers and scanners from Canon, Fujitsu, Ricoh, Sharp, and Toshiba.
eCopy ScanStation OP is an ergonomically-designed, integrated system that consists
of a touch screen, keyboard, and PC, which is optimized to operate ShareScan OP
software for non-embedded architecture networked copiers or scanners.
